Trinity Lutheran Church Celebrates 125 Years

Ellwood City Man Convicted on Federal Drug Charges

PITTSBURGH, PA – After deliberating for two hours, a federal jury of seven men and five women found Taurean Potter guilty of one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine and one count of Distribution of Cocaine, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. Potter, age 33, of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania was tried before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 2nd Winner For The Mayor Beautification Award

The second winner for the 2019 Mayor Beautification Award was announced this week by the Mayor’s Office. A restaurant gift certificate was presented to Marty Homner of Franklin Avenue, Ellwood City. His property shows the love and effort that Marty puts into it. The Mayor’s Office says congratulations to Mr. Homner on a great job. There are still four more winners to go. Fireworks Fundraiser More Than Doubles Goal: $11,230 Raised

The fireworks fundraiser earned double plus its $5,000 goal tallying out at a final number of $11,230. Senate Approves Criminal Justice Reform Measures

The Senate today (June 5) approved a bipartisan package of criminal justice reforms that will reduce prison and probation costs, better protect crime victims and strengthen public safety, according to Senator Elder Vogel. Senate Bill 500 creates a County Adult Probation and Parole Advisory Committee to help counties better assess the unique risks and needs of probationers to reduce incarceration and cut costs to taxpayers. Senate Bill 501 streamlines the placement of offenders in drug treatment programs and other intermediate punishment programs, and improve and expedite the parole process for non-violent offenders. BC3 Places 7th In National Golf Championships; Pioneers’ Morgan 1 Stroke Short Of All-american

(Chautauqua, N.Y.) For the second consecutive year, a Butler County Community College golfer fell just short of All-American status at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national championships at Chautauqua Golf Club. Noah Morgan, a sophomore and graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg, finished the four-round tournament with a 318 and 1 stroke behind a Georgia golfer who placed 18th. Festival Announces Little Miss Firecracker Participants

On Friday, June 28, Ellwood City’s Folino Stage will again ‘light up’ as 17 young ladies vie for this year’s title of Little Miss Firecracker. The 5th annual pageant is the kick-off for the 39th Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, and Entertainment Festival and will begin at 11:15 am. The three-day festival will take place in Ewing Park, Ellwood City. Pageant participants range from ages 5-7 and live within a 15 mile radius of Ellwood City. Two Lincoln High Graduates Receive Monetary Awards

Alex Joseph Fotia, Patricia Bernice McMillin and Hannah E. Froce are the 2019 Lincoln High School graduates who received monetary awards from the Lincoln High School Class of 1957. Alex was given the $5,000 award, Patricia won a $2,500 award and Hannah received $500 for writing the best essay. Their names were announced by James Meehan, ’57 class president, during Lincoln’s annual senior class recognition assembly. The three will be recognized at the ’57 class reunion luncheon in July.
