LHS Caring Team Accepting Donations During Senior Night Basketball Game

The Lincoln High School Caring Team will be accepting donations for the community food bank before the boys’ final home basketball game Tuesday night. Fans attending the Senior Night game are asked to bring non-perishable food to help support people in our community who are facing food insecurity. There is a particular need for canned fruit, tuna, and soups, as well as cereals, mac and cheese, and toilet paper. Caring team members will also be collecting cash donations to support the program. Fireworks Benefit to Feature Live Music, Comedy, Food, Prizes

An explosion of entertainment, food, and fun will kick off this year’s Fireworks Benefit. The event will take place at Koehler Brewery, 130 Wampum Ave, from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday February 8. Final United Fund Campaign Report

The Ellwood City United Fund campaign ends on Friday, January 31, 2020 – but there still is time to donate! Senate Approves Two Bills Supporting PA Fire & EMS Companies

Riverside SD Announces New Student Online Enrollment; Students of the Month

Riverside will be implementing Skyward New Student Online Enrollment on February 10, 2020. The Riverside School District is creating a new way to enroll students new to our district, including NEW KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENTS FOR 20-21.  The process is automated and eliminates the need for printing endless forms.  The process walks new parents/guardians through a series of questions and will help improve the efficiency of the enrollment process.  We will be working diligently this week to create and test our new system.  Access will be available February 10, 2020.  No phone calls for kindergarten enrollment will be received until Monday, Feb…

Ellwood City Borough Tax Collector, Sue Gatto, announced her new hours this week. The hours for the month of February will be Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. only. Beginning March 1st, the tax collector hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. The office of Tax Collector is located in the Ellwood City Municipal Building on Lawrence Avenue. Police Reports: Criminal Complaints

The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright. According to a complaint, on January 20, 2020, at approximately 8:45 a.m. police were called and advised on the whereabouts of defendant, Maria Carmen Rozzi, 55, of New Castle, who left a residence on foot and was in possession of a pistol. Ellwood City School District Board Collides Over Ethics

Ellwood City School Board Directors passed a Board Resolution: “Principles for Governance and Leadership” during their recent meeting but not without a discussion regarding ethics. Part of those principles, set by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA), encourage board directors to “Act Ethically.” Director Jennifer Tomon challenged whether fellow board members appointed to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Negotiation Committee have a conflict of interest when it comes to their duties.
