POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

  THEFT: On July 13th between the hours of 11:00p.m. and 9:00a.m. a motorcycle was stolen from Wilson Ave. The investigation is ongoing according to a criminal complaint. DUI: Clark Groce, 64, of Ellwood City is charged with DUI after an incident occurring on June 5th at approximately 11:55p.m. Police contacted Groce while in his parked car that was found to be in someone’s yard. Groce stated that he was very confused and blacked out making him unaware on how he ended up in the yard. Officers conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test on Groce, and he was taken into…

Ellwood City Moose & Word Alive Church Host Breakfast For IRT Operation Healthy Ellwood

As part of the ongoing efforts of Operation Healthy Ellwood, military and local emergency responders went through a mass casualty incident (MCI) exercise Tuesday evening on Lawrence Avenue in Ellwood City. The scenario simulated a vehicle striking multiple pedestrians, requiring a rapid and coordinated emergency response. Operation Healthy Ellwood is a Department of Defense initiative bringing no-cost health services to the community. Nearly 200 military medical professionals from the Air Force, Army, and Navy are staffing the no-cost health clinic at Lincoln High School that concludes this week.

Carpenter’s Project Wraps Up Its 24th Summer of Service in Ellwood City

For the 24th consecutive year, the Carpenter’s Project—a volunteer-based home‑repair mission running July 14-18—mobilized residents across Ellwood City and the Riverside School Districts to deliver free exterior fixes to homeowners in need. “This was a solid year,” said Director Steven Miller. “Some of our projects this year were bigger projects than we’ve ever done before.” Despite a summer plagued with rain, it seems as though the project was saved from the waters. “Weather was a little bit rough on Monday afternoon,” Miller said. “We had quite a bit of rain but more than half of the crews wanted to continue…
