Riverside High School 2021 Prom

Riverside High School held their 2021 prom this past Friday May 7th. The promenade took place at Riverside High School where students walked through both the gymnasium and auditorium for friends and family to see. The dance was held at Rustic Meadows Farms in Darlington, Pennsylvania. The prom court was selected earlier in the week and the king and queen were crowned at the end of promenade. The prom queen was Taryn Schmdit and the prom king was Ethan Geist. Congratulations to both individuals! The Beaver County Office of Planning and Redevelopment is taking steps to ensure that all residents and businesses in Beaver County can connect to high speed, affordable internet. V-E Day Celebrated; Ceremony Held On Saturday

Victory in Europe (V-E) Day is celebrated annually on May 8th to recognize the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II of Germany’s unconditional surrender. Ellwood City celebrated its “V-E Day” this past Saturday, which was the 76th anniversary of the end of war, at the World War Two monument in front of the Municipal Building. UPMC Jameson Holding Vaccination Event For Ellwood City Community At Lincoln High School

UPMC Jameson is holding a special vaccination event for the Ellwood City community on Saturday, May 15, at Lincoln High School. The Lincoln High School clinic for Ellwood City and surrounding area community members, operated by UPMC Jameson, is scheduled to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15. Registrations requested at Vaccine.UPMC.com, but walk-ins are welcome. Both area softball teams were victorious in action on Thursday with Ellwood City blasting South Park early on its way to a 12-3 victory while the Riverside Panthers clinched the program’s first winning season since 2014 by defeating Mohawk 9-8 at home on Thursday.  The Riverside baseball team overcame an early deficit to also win Thursday, defeating Laurel 10-9 at home. Film Producer & EC Native Follows Family Ties In Journey To Tell Story Of Local War Hero

800 missions, saving 576 lives. That is the story of local war hero Royal Stratton as told by his nephew and film producer Christopher Johnson, an Ellwood native. Johnson, along with production partner Mariana Tosca, directed a 90-minute film titled “Journey to Royal: A WWII Rescue Mission” that was released in February 2021. Tosca and Johnson, born in Ellwood City, traveled the globe to locate and interview the last remaining voices of the Greatest Generation in order to secure firsthand, historical accounts of some of the most consequential events of the war.  The film has taken 10 years to complete….
