Lincoln High School To Offer European Trip In Summer 2024

Lincoln High School is planning an educational European tour for the summer of 2024. Students will experience Paris, Provence, and Barcelona, Spain, over a 10 day trip according to Jason Bell, Spanish Teacher at Lincoln. The trip is open to all students who are currently enrolled in 9th through 12th grade. Bell and Mrs. Mandy Long will chaperon the trip coordinated with EF Tours, the district educational travel partner. ECIAHF October Meeting Recap

Members of the Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation met Thursday October 27th at Hunter Bros Coffee, at 229 Portersville Road. The meeting opened with “A Prayer in Time of Need.” World War II Veteran and hero Mr. Guy Prestia led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. Treasurer Cherlyn Rangel reported on the current expenses and remaining balance. Due to needed changes and updating of information Secretary Virginia Ottaviani will give a complete report at the November meeting. Housing, Arts, Schools Among Newest Firefly Solar Grant Recipients

The Firefly Solar project is excited to announce its latest community grant recipients. Award winners are nonprofits and educational institutions dedicated to community building in Lawrence County. Lawrence County Man Pleads Guilty in Scheme to Distribute Cocaine from Mexico

PITTSBURGH – A Lawrence County resident pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, in form commonly known as crack cocaine, United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced today. Quantel Searcy, age 49, formerly of New Castle, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty on Friday to one count before United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan. If this case would have proceeded to trial, the government would have proven that Searcy was part of a cocaine-distribution conspiracy focused on New Castle, Pennsylvania. Fluharty, Wissinger, Custer Qualify For PIAA Cross Country Championships

Three local athletes have qualified for the upcoming PIAA State Cross Country Championships. Riverside junior Lexi Fluharty finished runner-up Thursday afternoon in the WPIAL Class-A Cross Country Championships held at California University of Pennsylvania. Fluharty finished with a time 19:58.4. Joining Fluharty in qualifying for next week’s state championships is fellow junior Brooke Wissinger who finished with a 9th place time of 21:38.4.
