The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. PHOTOS: Riverside Coed Swimming Senior Night

The Riverside Coed Swimming & Diving team hosted Central Valley on Wednesday Night as part of its senior night. The team will next turn its attention to the MAC Swimming Championships this weekend and the WPIAL Class AA Swimming Championships on February 26, 2026 at the University of Pittsburgh. The 2026 WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ & Girls’ Swimming & Diving Championships begin with the diving championships on February 20-21 before concluding with the swimming championships on February 26-27.

Trinity Lutheran Church Hosting Drive-Thru Ashes On February 18th

Trinity Lutheran Church will be holding a Drive Through Ashes Distribution on Ash Wednesday, February 18th. Pastor Dave Saylor will be available that day from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and Noon to 1:00 PM. You can call the church office at 724.752.3050 after 9:00 am that day if you need to come between those times.  Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 207 Spring Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117 All are welcome and will receive a brief Lenten devotional. The Ellwood City Police and Fire Departments have each issued public safety notices related to the winter weather, snow, and safety of our community. Wurtemburg Perry Fire Department Preparing For Busiest Time Of The Year

The Wurtemburg Perry Fire Department is preparing for their busiest time of the year. The firemen starting February 21 and February 22 will have their annual Gun Show. This will be the 42nd annual gun show and has been sponsored, since inception, by the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club. The event is two days with the hours of operation are 9am-4pm on Saturday and 9am – 2 pm on Sunday. We will have over 90 tables operated by 40 dealers. ECASD Board of Directors Table Hiring of Head Football Coach for Special Meeting

Although the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors, according to the agenda posted on the district’s website, was set to vote to hire a new head football coach during Monday’s meeting, a coach was ultimately not hired. The 7 p.m. public meeting was delayed 50 minutes as the board held an executive session for interviews. The Ellwood City boys basketball team returns to the WPIAL Playoffs as a 9-seed while the Riverside Panthers boys basketball team earned a 14-seed in the 2026 WPIAL Class 3A Championships.
