Bernstine Announces State Grants for Fire, EMS Services in Butler, Lawrence Counties

BUTLER/LAWRENCE COUNTIES – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) today announced fire and emergency response organizations throughout the 8th Legislative District have been awarded nearly $244,000 in grants from the state. “Our volunteer fire departments and EMS providers are essential to keeping our communities safe,” said Bernstine. “These grants will help ensure first responders in Butler and Lawrence counties have the equipment, training and resources they need to continue protecting our families and neighborhoods. Franklin Township Seeking Two Volunteers For Planning Commission Board

Franklin Township has two volunteer openings on the Planning Commission Board. Interested applicants must be Township residents. Please email a brief statement of interest and information about yourself to twpsecretary@franklintwpbeavercopa.gov by February 27. The Planning Commission is an advisory board appointed by the Board of Supervisors to review zoning, subdivision, and land development matters. The Riverside Coed Swimming & Diving team hosted Central Valley on Wednesday Night as part of its senior night. The team will next turn its attention to the MAC Swimming Championships this weekend and the WPIAL Class AA Swimming Championships on February 26, 2026 at the University of Pittsburgh. The 2026 WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ & Girls’ Swimming & Diving Championships begin with the diving championships on February 20-21 before concluding with the swimming championships on February 26-27.

The Wurtemburg Perry Fire Department is preparing for their busiest time of the year. The firemen starting February 21 and February 22 will have their annual Gun Show. This will be the 42nd annual gun show and has been sponsored, since inception, by the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club. ECASD Board of Directors Table Hiring of Head Football Coach for Special Meeting

Although the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors, according to the agenda posted on the district’s website, was set to vote to hire a new head football coach during Monday’s meeting, a coach was ultimately not hired. The 7 p.m. public meeting was delayed 50 minutes as the board held an executive session for interviews.
