Lawrence County Broadband Initiative Announces Events

NEW CASTLE – Today, the Lawrence County Commissioners announced two public events as a part of their Link Up Lawrence initiative, a project that kicked off last month and is assessing the quality and availability of broadband internet in the County. The Commissioners are hosting an open house on May 11 and a virtual workshop on May 18 to share information about the project and gain insight into internet experiences residents, businesses, and organizations. Sturgeon Captures 1st Place In High Jump At ‘Rock Relays’ On Saturday

Sophomore Delaney Sturgeon captured a 1st place finish in the Girls High Jump at the Slippery Rock University “Rock Relays” on Saturday. The high school invitational took place at the William Lennox Track at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium with teams from more than 40 high schools across the region participating. Sturgeon earned the top podium spot with a final jump of 5’0″ that bested six other athletes who all finished tied at 4’10”. Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation Opening Day POSTPONED

UPDATED April 21st 11:32 a.m. — The opening day parade and ceremony has been postponed untiled next Saturday, April 29th due to weather forecasts. The schedule of events will remain the same Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation (ECABF) will hold its opening day ceremony on Saturday April 22nd. Knights Of Columbus Provided Donation To Divine Grace

The Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 11389 provided a $500 donation to the Divine Grace Ministerium Social Services this week Pictured below and receiving the check are Jan Baur and Cathy DeBlaso, co-directors of Social Services. Ethan Santillo and Ronnie Harper combined to twirl a two-hit five inning shutout in Riverside’s 10-0 victory over Union Area during Tuesday afternoon’s senior day game. Borough Council to Hold Public Hearing Regarding Dunkin’

Ellwood City Borough Council announced during the April 17 regular meeting that they will hold a public hearing to consider a conditional use request from Dunkin’ on May 15 at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Borough Building’s Council Chambers on the second floor. Borough Manager Kevin Swogger said the borough will be applying for a Lawrence County Liquid Fuels Grant to help offset the costs of the 2021 Road Improvement Project.
