Holy Redeemer’s Cash & Golf Bash Less Than Two Weeks Away

Less than two weeks are left until Holy Redeemer’s Golf Bash takes place on Sunday, January 16th. The Cash & Golf Bash will be hosted at the Catholic Center located at 311 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City. Roth, Wolverines Knock Off Rival Riverside

Senior Alexander Roth connected on six 3-pointers en route to his game high 26 points to lead Ellwood City to at 63-40 victory Tuesday Night over rival Riverside. Roth scored 16 points in a first half that saw the Wolverines race out to a 39-24 halftime lead. In a well rounded effort, Roth added five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Ellwood City Area Historical Society To Hold First Meeting Of 2022

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society is pleased to announce they will hold their first meeting of 2022 Monday, January 10 at 7:00 pm. Officers and board directors that were elected in November 2021, will be installed. The guest speaker for the evening will be Andrew Henley who will speak about “The Foundations of Lawrence County”. Andrew W. Henley is from Edinburg, Mahoning Township, Lawrence County. Henley resides on an eligible Bicentennial Farm, in which his family has resided since 1808. Barry’s Ice Cream Gets New Owners And Remains Open

Barry’s Ice Cream created some angst over the holiday weekend when the owners first announced on Instagram on Sunday that they would be stepping away from the hometown ice cream shop after 28 years. However, new details quickly emerged on Facebook Sunday with a lengthy update announcing the parlor will remain open. The soon-to-be new management team of the parlor will be Kassie Clyde and Marisa Cragle, who are the original owners granddaughters and previous owners nieces. Lane Restrictions On Route 65 Put In Place

PennDOT District 11 is announced lane restrictions on Route 65 in North Sewickley and Franklin townships, Beaver County, that began on Monday, January 3rd. Single-lane alternating traffic controlled by flaggers will occur on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through late January on Route 65 at the County Club Bridge. Additionally, lane restrictions will occur on Mercer Road (Route 1006) and Country Club Road. Crews from KCI Technologies, Inc. will conduct drilling to locate subsurface utilities. Ellwood City Borough Council Reorganizes, Sets 2022 Meeting Dates

Ellwood City Borough Council held its reorganizational meeting Monday night. Newly elected Mayor Anthony Court was administered his oath of office by Jerry Cartwright, magisterial district judge. Court then administered the oath of office to the newly elected council members: Jim Barry, Michele Lamenza, Brad Ovial, and Jan Williams. Ovial joined council after Councilwoman Lisa Guerrera resigned in August. Her term was set to expire on December 31, 2021. Guerrera had moved out of the borough, leaving her legally unable to fulfill the rest of her term. Ovial and Williams both submitted letters of interest in filling the vacant seat…

POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

MISSING PERSON: Pennsylvania State Police received reports of a missing person on December 29, 2021. It is reported Lauren Cortez, 32, of New Castle, had left her residence with a known male on December 28th at approximately 4:45 p.m. and last spoke with her parents at 7:35 p.m. relating she was traveling to College Hill in Beaver Falls with the known male and two unknown males. Wolverines Cruise To Christmas Tournament Championship

Ellwood City traveled north for the Mercer Christmas Tournament and found no resistance in District 10 as the Wolverines earned the tournament championship Tuesday evening. The defending WPIAL Class-3A Champions defeated Saegertown 77-36 on Monday and then host Mercer 74-49 on Tuesday. The Splash Brothers, Alexander and Joseph Roth, each scored 47 points over the two-game tournament. Senior Alexander had a game-high 24 points Monday while sophomore Joseph scored a game-high 25 points Tuesday in the championship game.
