New Castle, PA – ELLWOOD this week announced a change in leadership at ELLWOOD Specialty Metals (ESM), with the promotion of ELLWOOD executive Mark Kaszer to President effective January 1, 2025. Kaszer will succeed outgoing president Judy Shaffer who earlier this year announced her year-end retirement. Borough Alerting Residents Of Recent Round Of Scams

The Borough of Ellwood City is alerting residents of another round of scams that are targeting the elderly residents of Ellwood City. According to information made available by the borough, the scams are claiming that back property taxes are owed and they are delinquent and need to be paid according to Mayor Anthony J. Mayor Court Presents Proclamation Honoring Hoots Music Center 30-Year Anniversary

Mayor Anthony J. Court recently presented a proclamation to Tony “Hoots” Mazzei to help celebrate his 30 years as “Hoots Music Center”. “Tony Mazzei served Ellwood City and the surrounding areas with dedication and commitment in the music industry,” said Mayor Court in an emailed statement. “Throughout his history he provided our community with music lessons and instruments with grace and distinction. Ellwood City Library Hosting Art Show On October 26th

The Ellwood City Area Public Library is hosting an art show on October 26th as a fundraising event. The show is scheduled to take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the library. The event will feature the works of M.C. The Borough of Ellwood City is proud to announce a Borough wide food drive to benefit the Divine Grace Food Pantry. The Panthers girls volleyball team earned a thrilling 5-set match victory over rival Ellwood City in a Riv-Ell Cup matchup Thursday evening at Riverside High School The Lady Panthers jumped out to a two set advantage before the visiting Wolverines rallied back to tie the match at two sets apiece. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: Paula Schwartz, 39, of Ellwood City, is charged with Theft after an incident reported on September 18th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 3:00 p.m., the owner of Uni-Mart reported a theft that occurred at his business and advised police that his employee, Schwartz, stole money out of the cash drawer and five cartons of cigarettes overnight. Police reviewed surveillance and paperwork from the store that cooperated with the owners report.  Police contact Schwartz at her residence and spoke with Schwartz who related she was dealing with a mental health episode and later admitted to the theft….
