Dr. Milton L. Caplan was born in 1915, son of the late Jacob L. Caplan and Gertrude Goldman Caplan, in Ellwood City, and lived in Ellwood most of his life, until  2003, at the age of 88, when he retired to West Palm Beach Florida. Dr. Caplan lived to be over 101, when he passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7 2017.  He would have celebrated his 102 birthday in May. Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 3 2017 at the Ellwood City Hospital.  Jim was a loving family man.   He loved mowing his lawn, caring for his cars and was an avid boater.   Jim has spent his entire life, 92 years, in Ellwood City and has lived in the same house his father built. Shirley L. Tanner, 93, of  Franciscan Manor, Beaver Falls, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning , February  8,  2017 at Franciscan Manor. Mary  Shapiro, 88, of  Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on  Tuesday evening, February 7,  2017 in UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born in New Castle   on   May 23 1928  to the late Frank and  Julia Soup Kerestly. Mary  enjoyed  decorating, especially her home, and flower arranging. Judith  A.  Wise, 72, of  Camp Allegheny Road,  Ellwood City, (Wayne Township),  passed away suddenly  and unexpectedly  on Wednesday evening, February 1, and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in the Ellwood City Hospital. Loretta H. Hutchison, 96, of Ellwood City (Wayne Township), passed away peacefully on  Wednes day, February   1, 2017 at The Grove at  Harmony PA . Dorothy A. Lumley, 73, of Beaver Falls, formerly of North Sewickley Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31 2017 in  Curahealth  at  Heritage Beaver Valley.   Raymond Lopez, 83, of Portersville PA (Perry Twp., Lawrence County) passed away peacefully on January 25, 2017, at Franciscan Manor, in Beaver Falls, with family at his side. He was born in Callery PA, Butler Co., on April 7, 1933 to the late Louis Lopez, and the late Cornelia Adams Lopez. Norma Jean Nye, 86, of  New Castle, (Shenango Twp.) passed away peacefully on  Monday morning, January 16 2017 at her residence. She was born in Sharpsville, PA (Mercer Co.) on October 26, 1930, to the late Samuel Miller Reed Felton and the late Rachel Julia Shaffer Felton. Norma graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1948  and Westminster College in 1952.  She began her career as a teacher for one  year in Hermitage,  then in the Ellwood City Area School District where she taught  elementary music education at Hartman, North Side, Perry, Ewing Park and West End Schools for 32 years….

Bruce M. Hockenberry, 64, of Harper’s Ferry Road,   Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.) , passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 12 2017 at his residence.
