Bernstine Announces Grants to First Responders in 8th District

HARRISBURG – Grant funding will be coming to several first responder companies in the 8th District under a program administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) within the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), according to Rep. PA American Water Launches Water Line Service Inventory Project

Pennsylvania American Water needs your help to identify the material used for your water service line. Starting this week, customers whose service line material is unknown to Pennsylvania American Water will be sent a postcard with information on how to participate in this vital identification effort. Customers can respond on the website featured on the postcard or by calling the number provided directly to the company’s project management firm, Greeley and Hansen. One Dead, One Injured In Monday Shooting

According to published reports, one woman is dead and another person is left in critical condition after a shooting late Monday afternoon in Ellwood City. The incident happened just after 5:00 p.m. near the 200 block of First Street, near its intersection with Fountain Avenue. After a strong police presence and shut downs of nearby roadways, police have a person in custody. Ellwood City Police were assisted by nearby and neighboring police departments to locate the suspect who was later apprehended. District Judge Cartwright Running For Re-Election

District Judge Jerry G. Cartwright has announced his candidacy for re-election to his position in District 53-3-01 in Ellwood City. Cartwright is in his 18th year in the judgeship when his 3rd term expires at the end of 2023. He intends to cross-file on the Democrat and Republican ballots. During his tenure, Cartwright was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to the Minor Courts Rules Committee. Ellwood City Borough Facade Improvement Program Among Seven County Projects Funded By $1.2M Rescue Plan Act

Lawrence County Announces $800,000 in Paving and Transportation Grants Awarded to 16 Municipalities

Lawrence County Board of Commissioners announced Tuesday that $800,000.00 has been allocated by the county to assist 16 municipalities with 38 paving projects, 3 culvert replacements, 1 stormwater reclamation project, and 5 capital purchases. This investment represents the single largest general appropriation of county transportation funds for municipal transportation projects ever approved by Lawrence County. This funding supplements municipal funding for road repairs and capital purchases and assists with $3,287,143.09 in total countywide transportation investments.
