Beaver County Local Historians Gathering Oral Histories Related to East Palestine Train Derailment

Darlington – Located in northwestern Beaver County not far from East Palestine, Ohio–site of the now infamous Norfolk Southern train derailment on February 3, 2023–the Little Beaver Historical Society is hosting a public event called “Stories for History” to capture, preserve and share first-hand accounts and memories of the train derailment and its aftermath, including the so-called “controlled burn off” of several chemical tank cars. Bernstine Proposes Bill to Classify Drag Shows as ‘Adult Business’

HARRISBURG – Following several PA events where drag performances appealing to children have been held, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Lawrence/Butler) has proposed legislation in the state House to reclassify drag performances as “adult-oriented business.” The legislation intends to protect children by banning drag shows on public property or in areas that can be seen by minors. “Parents should have peace of mind that their children won’t be exposed to minor-marketed or sexually suggestive drag shows without their consent,” Bernstine said. “In no world should we be allowing these types of shows to occur in public libraries, schools or other public property…

Moraine State Park Regatta is looking forward to raising funds for a shoreline improvement project on the south shore of Moraine State Park. This proposed project is a shoreline stabilization project along the south shore, near the “Picnic Point”. Moraine State Park is a beautiful place, and this shoreline stabilization project has two primary purposes, both structural and environmental, as well as tourism-related. Grady Smith has been named a National Elks Scholar and a recipient of their Most Valuable Student Scholarship. The Elks National Foundation scholarship program recognizes students in several categories including community service, honors and awards, extracurricular involvement, employment and academics. Route 422 Daylight Single-lane Restrictions Begin Next Week in Lawrence County

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing improvement work on the Route 65 bridge over Route 422 (US 422/Benjamin Franklin Highway) in Shenango Township, Lawrence County will begin Monday, March 27 weather permitting.
