Senator Vogel Supports State Budget Sent to Governor

Suspicious Utility Phone Collection Calls Reported

It was reported to the Ellwood City Borough Utility Collections Dept. that two local establishments were contacted by phone and told that their utility services were to be terminated. There is no validity to that statement as the Borough of Ellwood City maintains strict standards regarding this type of action. Any person receiving a call of this nature should check with the Borough of Ellwood City Utility Collections Dept. at 724-758-5576 or 5577. Chewton Churches Present Outdoor Nativity Program

The Chewton Baptist Church and Chewton Christian Church invite all to their outdoor Nativity program. The program is Sunday, Dec. 20 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Chewton Christian Church. There will be combined choirs and child actors from both churches with an inspiring Christmas message. The program will be outdoors, so please dress warmly. There will be benches for seating, and visitors are welcome to bring their own chairs. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served in the church following the program.


Final Holiday Merchant Award Awarded

On Tuesday, Mayor Court presented to Patty Kuhn, owner of Posies by Patty, with the final 2015 “Holiday Merchant Awards” for the beautiful Holiday Window display at her business. Patty received a window display award sign and a gift certificate from a local restaurant. Mayor Court would like to thank everyone who participated in making this annual event such a success. He wishes all the Ellwood City residents and businesses a Happy Holiday Season and a very healthy and prosperous New Year for 2016.

United Fund Behind Goals

The United Fund started its annual campaign drive on Nov. 1 for the year of 2015. We find ourselves behind in meeting weekly goals to reach the $50,000 that is needed to support the United fund agencies. So far, we have received donations and pledges that equal approximately 48% of what is needed. We would encourage everyone in the Ellwood City area to reflect on what they may share with others who are less fortunate than ourselves, so we can make a difference int heir lives. Gibbons Reminds Area Residents of Approaching Property Tax/Rent Rebate deadline

State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, reminded constituents today of the Dec. 31 deadline for 2014 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program applications. “It’s easy to lose track of time around the holidays,” Gibbons said. “Before you know it, it’ll be a new year and too late to file an application. On Monday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented two more Holiday Merchant Awards to the owners of A Bella Boutique and another to Venezie Sporting Goods and Apparel for their holiday window displays.
