Corona D’Italia Lodge June Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 8 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with a pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by Louis DiFrischia and Jackie Perno. Trustee Patty Regna voiced the invocation. The business session followed with financial reports by Treasurer Louise Vitullo. She welcomed Anita Chaffin, a long time member, who has been unable to attend meetings due to other commitments. Kids Created Kingdom Closed Tomorrow

On Friday, June 24, 2016 it will be necessary to close the Kids Created Kingdom. There is a dead tree in the play area and  Marshall Tree Service will be removing the tree. The Kids Created Kingdom will be posted advising people of the closure which will be from 7 a.m. up to 4 p.m. The Kids Created Kingdom will reopen after the tree has been removed and the area cleared of any debris. The reopening should take place shortly after 4 p.m. In the event there are any changes, the borough will notify all parties.

Mayor Court Presents Fourth Beautification Award

On Friday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Judy Bokor of Spring Avenue, the Fourth 2016 Beautification Award and Gift Certificate. The Mayor was excited to present this to Judy, as once again, this was yet another first time recipients and they too were excited. Gibbons Announces Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Deadline Extension

ELLWOOD CITY, June 17 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, today said the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2015 has been extended from June 30 to Dec. 31. Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older qualify for the benefits under the program. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters. Half of Social Security income and any COLAs are excluded. Governor Wolf Signs Battery B Memorial Highway Bill into Law

Local Program Lets Kids be “Veterinarian for a Day”

On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 34 area children attended Jr Vet Day Camp at the Ellwood Animal Hospital in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. This session was dedicated to learning how to be a “Pet Detective.” Animal diagnostic methods and treatments were demonstrated. For the last 12 years, Dr. Cynthia Maro and the staff of the Ellwood and Chippewa Animal Hospitals and Cranberry Holistic Pet Care have offered local kids a unique, behind the scenes experience at life in a veterinary clinic. Mayor Presents 3rd Beautification Award

On Wednesday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Kathy and Nick Nardone of Hazel Avenue the 3rd 2016 Beautification Award and Gift Certificate. The Mayor was excited to present this to the Nardone’s as this was the first year they were recipients, and they were just as excited about receiving the award as Mayor Court was to present it. Ralph Reda’s Barber Shop Celebrates Grand Opening

Mayor Anthony J. Court attended the grand opening for Ralph Reda’s Barber Shop on 223 Fifth St, now operated by Beth Pfau. Also in attendance to congratulate Beth on this great adventure was the Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce President Ray Santillo, Rachel Reda, former owner of Ralph Reda’s Barber Shop who now shares the facility with Beth, council member Judy Dici and many other Ellwood City business owners and friends.
