Mayor Proclaims Second Annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day in Ellwood City

Mayor Anthony J. Court was honored to proclaim Friday, May 6, 2016 as the second annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day in Ellwood City. The presentation was made to Joe Venasco, the Director of the Lawrence County Mental Health/Development Services. Gibbons Announces Over $200,000 Awarded to Area First Responders

Harrisburg, April 28 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, has announced that 16 local fire companies and one EMS squad are receiving more than $211,000 in state grants. Gibbons said the state grants can be used toward repairing, building or renovating facilities and can also be applied toward the purchase of new equipment, training or facility maintenance. “Our first responders save lives in time of need,” Gibbons said. “The vehicle and equipment upkeep can be very expensive and this grant award can be used to repay a possible debt-related loan.” The grants are made possible by the Fire Company and…


Lincoln High School Marching Band Saturday Sub Sale

The Lincoln High School Marching Band will be selling submarines on Saturday, April 30. The members will be selling them beginning at 9 a.m. in the high school parking lot and various locations in town. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the students in the upcoming marching band season.

Next Mayor’s Crime Watch and Advisory Meetings

The next Mayor’s Advisory Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 3 p.m. in council chambers at the Ellwood City Borough Municipal Building. Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation to Celebrate Opening Day this Saturday

The Ellwood City Amateur Baseball Federation will celebrate the opening of the summer baseball season on Saturday, April 30 with a parade starting at 11 a.m. in Ewing Park. Events include a home run derby, dunk tank, carnival games, inflatables, prizes and trophies, a 50/50 raffles, a Chinese auction, and more. There will also be a Pitch, Hit & Run event open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14 beginning at 4 p..m. in Sanders Field in Ewing Park.


Corona D’Italia April Meeting

Officers and members of Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with the pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by Sentinel Lois DiFrischia. Mistress of Ceremonies Mary Quintanilla voiced the invocation for the Easter season. Pudue La Cava hosted the 1954 Lincoln High School “Life is a Beach” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Thursday, April 14 at 4 p.m. The session began with a luncheon provided by committee members Ann Amadio, Ilene Gardner, Jan Keenan, Clemmy Sirimarco and LaCava and served by LaCava and Gardner.
