Local Program Lets Kids be “Veterinarian for a Day”

On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 34 area children attended Jr Vet Day Camp at the Ellwood Animal Hospital in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. This session was dedicated to learning how to be a “Pet Detective.” Animal diagnostic methods and treatments were demonstrated. For the last 12 years, Dr. Cynthia Maro and the staff of the Ellwood and Chippewa Animal Hospitals and Cranberry Holistic Pet Care have offered local kids a unique, behind the scenes experience at life in a veterinary clinic. Mayor Presents 3rd Beautification Award

On Wednesday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Kathy and Nick Nardone of Hazel Avenue the 3rd 2016 Beautification Award and Gift Certificate. The Mayor was excited to present this to the Nardone’s as this was the first year they were recipients, and they were just as excited about receiving the award as Mayor Court was to present it. Their beautiful landscape shows that they too have pride in their hometown of Ellwood City.

Mayor Anthony J. Court attended the grand opening for Ralph Reda’s Barber Shop on 223 Fifth St, now operated by Beth Pfau. Also in attendance to congratulate Beth on this great adventure was the Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce President Ray Santillo, Rachel Reda, former owner of Ralph Reda’s Barber Shop who now shares the facility with Beth, council member Judy Dici and many other Ellwood City business owners and friends. Gibbons: House Passes Daniel’s Law Bill

HARRISBURG, June 15  –  The House of Representatives today unanimously passed a bill introduced by state Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, that is designed to increase penalties for distracted driving accidents. Vogel’s Cost-saving Legislation for Schools Sent to Governor

Legislation introduced by Senator Elder Vogel that will allow school districts to save thousands of dollars in annual mailing costs received final legislative approval Tuesday (June 14) and is headed to the Governor for his signature. Senate Bill 1077, which was approved by a 193-2 vote in the House of Representatives, eliminates the mandate that school districts annually inform parents by physical mailing when the district uses audio and video recording to identify and address discipline issues on school buses. Gibbons to Host Free Shredding Event this Saturday

BEAVER FALLS, June 14 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, is hosting a free shredding event for the community to destroy unneeded confidential documents.
