Gibbons to Host Policy Committee Informational Meeting on Economic and Environmental Issues Tuesday in Beaver Falls BEAVER FALLS, Sept. 29 – State Rep. WesBanco Donation Will Help STEAM Instruction Ellwood City, PA – Lincoln Junior Senior High School is set to receive a $25,000 donation from WesBanco, the financial institution has continued to reach beyond the brick and mortar walls of their buildings to have a direct impact in lives of local students. Zachery Saunders Appointed CCBC Trustee

Monaca, PA – The CCBC Board of Trustees welcomed a new member at their board meeting on Tuesday, September 20. Zachery S. Saunders of Potter Township is the newest CCBC Trustee appointed by the Beaver County Board of Commissioners. Ellwood City’s Homecoming

Lincoln High School’s Homecoming is going to be this Friday, September 30, at the Wolverines home game. Activities begin around 6:20 and at the end of the first quarter Mr. Lape will distribute the WPIAL softball Championship Rings and at half time the queen will be announced. Tickets for Friday’s homecoming game vs Valley will be on sale in the high school office starting on Wednesday 9-28 until 2:30 Friday 9-30. Presale prices will be $4 for adults and $1 for students. All tickets sold at the gate will be $5.


Ellwood City Art Club Fair

Lincoln High School will be hosting the Ellwood City Art Club Fair on October 8 from 10a.m. to 4p.m. The event will be held in Room T of the High School. Teachers will be on hand to allowing visitors the opportunity to explore various art forms. Visitors will be able to try oil painting, water color painting, computer applications, making greeting cards, drawing coloring pages and then coloring them. No experience necessary.


Four Local Volunteer Fire Companies Receive State Grants

Four volunteer fire companies in Beaver and Lawrence counties were recently awarded state grants for training and equipment purchases directly related to fighting brush and forest fires, according to Senator Elder Vogel. Beaver County grant recipients are: Independence Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, $1,000, and Industry Borough Volunteer Fire Department, $7,500. Lawrence County grant recipients are: New Beaver Borough Volunteer Fire Department, $2,900, and Volant Volunteer Fire Company, $2,767. The grants of up to $7,500 were offered under the program to volunteer fire companies serving rural areas and communities with fewer than 10,000 residents and where forest and brush fires…


Beaver Valley FOP Endorses Representative Jaret Gibbons

Beaver County, PA – The Beaver Valley Lodge #4 of the Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Representative Jaret Gibbons (D-Ellwood City) for reelection to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.  Gibbons spoke at the monthly FOP Lodge meeting on August 25th, during which he discussed his positions regarding legislation on public safety, employment and protection of police officers. Pennsylvania American Water: Updates About Chromium-6 in Drinking Water

The following information was received from the Pennsylvania American Water Company in regards to yesterdays post about chromium-6 in Ellwood’s drinking water: At Pennsylvania American Water, we take water quality and safety very seriously. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection set water quality standards designed to protect public health and Pennsylvania American Water treats our customer’s drinking water to meet or surpass these standards, including those set for chromium. The USEPA does not have specific drinking water regulations for chromium-6, only total chromium, which includes consideration of the health effects due to chromium-6. Pennsylvania…
