Ellwood City Parade Committee Thanks Community for Participation

The Ellwood City Parade Committee would like to thank everyone who participated, attended, and helped make this year’s Halloween and Christmas parades a success. The parades were funded by the following donors: Ellwood City Wolves Club, Ellwood City Lions Club, Courtyard Catering, Beth Hazen, Ellwood City Elementary PTO, Municipal Woman’s Club, Corona D’Italia Lodge, R. W. Powell, Inc., Chris Kobbe, Michael and Janice Loccisano, Dinosaur Studios, and Dorosh Documentaries. The committee wants to recognize the Ellwood City Borough, Ellwood City Police Department, and Holy Redeemer School for all of their support. Tentative dates have been set for next year’s parades….


Local Recreation Projects Receive over $1 Million in State Grants

Seven recreation projects were recently awarded Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) grants totaling over $1 million according to Senator Elder Vogel Jr. (R-47). The C2P2 program is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and includes the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key – Community and Key – Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Recreational Trails fund (PRT – federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA) and; the Snowmobile /ATV (SATV). The Borough of Ellwood City Recognized as Certified Sustainable Municipality

Dec. 8, Ellwood City– The Borough of Ellwood City announced today it is among a select group of high performing municipalities to become certified through the Sustainable Pennsylvania Community Certification program. The Borough is recognized at the Silver level of certification for meeting the program’s rigorous performance criteria which tracks 131 policies and practices that define a sustainable community. The sustainable Pennsylvania Community Certification, administered by the Pennsylvania Municipal League in partnership with Sustainable Pittsburgh, is designed for municipalities that are working to save money, conserve resources, and serve vibrant communities. Ellwood City Wrestling: Hampton Dual

Highlights Impressive showing by our new comers from Jr. High Austin Walley and Jake Alberts who had a very strong showing  in their first varsity matches. Austin went 4-1 for the day and Jake went 5-0 for the day. After taking a year off,  HWT Vincent Decaria did not disappoint with a record of 4-1 for the day.  Tyler Alberts also went 5-0 for the day and joined the milestone 100 wins club. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, December 12, at 6:30 p.m. – Classics Book Discussion Group for Adults. Outdoor Nativity Program

The Chewton Christian Church will have its annual Outdoor Nativity Program on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 6:30p.m. The Christmas story will be portrayed by children. Music will be provided by the Anderson Family (Echo Valley). Refreshments will be served in the church social hall following the program.


Christmas Trains in Ellwood Weekend Schedule

Ellwood City Area Food Bank

The Junior High Student Council of Lincoln High School, along with the Caring Team of LHS, would like to invite the surrounding communities to contribute to the Ellwood City Area Food Bank during the Ellwood City Girl/Boys Tipoff Classic Tournament to be held at Lincoln High School December 9 and 10. Seventh and Eighth grade students have already donated over 400 items.
