Rotary Club of Ellwood City Awarded $1000 District Simplified Grant

The Rotary Club of Ellwood City received a grant to support the reading clubs at the Ellwood City Area Public Library. The Rotary District Simplified Grant is a matching funds grant that is designed to help local Rotary Clubs use a portion of their foundation contributions. Ellwood City Rotary has been awarded grants for area projects as well as international projects. Sedgwick Throws Shutout as Ellwood City Wolverines Defeats Beaver

Shane Sedgwick didn’t allow a single run as Ellwood City Wolverines defeated Beaver 2-0 on Saturday. Sedgwick allowed just four hits. Ellwood City Wolverines didn’t take the lead until later in the game. Anthony Roth grounded out, scoring one run. A single by Vinny Mastrangelo in the fourth inning was a positive for Beaver. Armstrong Captures Lead Early to Defeat Ellwood City Wolverines Ellwood City Wolverines fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 loss to Armstrong on Thursday. Armstrong scored on a single by Michael Lhote and a stolen base in the first inning. Armstrong captured the lead in the first inning. Michael Lhote drove in one when he singled in the first inning. Lincoln Class of 1954 “Nite at the Movies”

Pudue LaCava hosted the Lincoln Class of 1954 “Nite at the Movies” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Thursday, March 16, at 2p.m. The session began with a pizza luncheon provided by committee members, “Pinky” Maielli, Ilene Gardner, Clemmy Sirimarco and LaCava. Co-Chairman, James Spielvogel conducted the business session that followed. Sirimarco presented the financial reports. James Gillespie reported on the monthly fund raising. He distributed March tickets and they are available by contacting LaCava, Gardner and committee members. All You Can Eat Breakfast Event

If you’ve missed their last two all-you-can-eat breakfast events, you can still partake in the remaining two! Join the Masonic Hall Association for breakfast at Ellwood Lodge #599, 512 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117 on April 15 and May 20.  From 8a.m. to 11:30a.m. breakfasts will be held at the Ellwood Lodge Building on the 1st Floor. The cost is $7.00 for adults and $3.50 for children (up age 10) for all you can eat scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, pancakes, toast, orange juice and coffee. Proceeds benefit the Masonic Hall Association and other community projects.


Ellwood City Wolverines Drops Game to Blackhawk After Late Score

Ellwood City Wolverines stayed in it until the end, but Blackhawk pulled away late in a 12-1 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at one with Blackhawk batting in the bottom of the fourth when Anthony Sebastian homered off of Tyler Good, driving in three runs. Ellwood City Wolverines took an early lead in the first inning. Tyler Good singled on a 3-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run. Lawrence County’s Earth Day Celebration will feature more than 40 educational exhibits, plenty of exciting activities, great entertainment, horse-drawn trolley rides, and a Wild World of Animals show.
