In a rematch of last year’s WPIAL semifinal, the Lady Wolverines traveled to Homestead on Tuesday afternoon and once again came away with a hard fought victory. Lady Wolverines Pass First Test, Defeat Avonworth 12-6 The Antelopes entered the game with a ton of offensive hype and an undefeated record. Riverside Panthers Varsity Softball fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-0 loss to Steel Valley on Thursday. Steel Valley scored on a home run by #24, a triple by #13, an error, and a fielder’s choice by #28 in the first inning. Steel Valley captured the lead in the first inning. Roth’s Walkoff Gives Ellwood City Wolverines Victory Over Beaver Falls A walk-off single led Ellwood City Wolverines past Beaver Falls 1-0 on Wednesday. The game was tied at zero with Ellwood City Wolverines batting in the bottom of the seventh when Anthony Roth singled off of Matt Veon, driving in one run.    In the section opener for Ellwood City, the Wolverine bats heated up just like the weather. The offense banged out 13 hits in just 3 innings of work as the game was halted by the mercy rule. Ariana Garroway and Zoe Kalantzis both hit shots that left the yard. Garroway finished the day 3-3 with a 3 run blast, scored twice and totaled 4 rbi’s.
