PHOTOS: Lincoln High Graduate Receives Tommy Novosel Scholarship

Dominic Nocera, a 2017 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City was awarded the second Tommy Novosel Scholarship at a service on May 28th at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish in Ellwood City. Dominic was a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Leadership, Student Council and Club Hope. He was an altar server at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a volunteer for the Carpenter’s Project. His future studies will be in Biomedical Engineering – Prosthetics. PPA Factors, Energy Costs and Consumption Comparison for Billings March 2017-June 2017 and Corresponding Previous Year

The attached information is being provided in order to inform Ellwood City Electric customers of the effect the reduction in the Transmission and Capacity charges set by PJM has had upon the Rate Adjustment (PPA Factor) and customer billings during the months of March 2017 through the upcoming billing in June 2017. Comparisons of PPA components (Energy Purchased, American Municipal Power-Power Charges, as well as Transmission and Capacity Charges) were used. Mayor’s Advisory Meeting Recap

On Thursday, May 25, 2017 the Mayor’s Advisory Committee met in Mayor Courts Office. Discussion included the parking ticket issue on Wampum Avenue, complaints voiced concerning a large black dog around Crestview and Skyline Drive. Mayor Court is urging people to trim their hedges when they get too high so that they do not obstruct traffic. The fight against drugs continues with 393 arrests since Mayor Court took office. Elwood City’s softball team has been a dominant force over WPIAL opponents in recent years, as it carried a carried a 37-game winning streak against such foes into Wednesday’s Class 3A championship game. That dominance continued as the Wolverines scored a convincing 10-0 victory in five innings against Deer Lakes at California University’s Lilley Field. To get that win, the Wolverines (18-0) had to be extremely patient. Ellwood City Woman Most Senior of BC3’s Largest Class Since 2000

(Butler, PA) An Ellwood City grandmother of three was the most senior of the 596 graduates in Butler County Community College’s Class of 2017. Kathie Potemra, 63, of Park Avenue, earned an associate of applied science degree in office administration-medical from BC3. She attended BC3 at Lawrence Crossing in New Castle, BC3’s main campus and took courses online. Back-to-back: Riverside defends WPIAL throne, collects 3A Championship

Last year, it took nine innings and only one run to give the Riverside Panthers the Class AA crown with a 1-0 win over Neshannock. In 2017, it was a new class and opponent but the end result was still the same as the Panthers cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Mount Pleasant Vikings at Wild Things Park to take the 3A baseball trophy back to North Sewickley Township. For the past six years, Mayor Court has presented to area residents a special “Beautification Award” sign along with a local restaurant gift certificate. This year the first Award went to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Loraine Buzzelli of Meadowridge Drive. The Buzzelli’s were nominated by an undisclosed resident who felt that the Buzzelli’s had spend considerable time and effort into making their home surroundings extra special.
