Lincoln High Student Receives $1,000 McDonald’s Scholarship

ELLWOOD CITY, PA (June 7, 2017) – McDonald’s of Ellwood City and the Beaver County Foundation are pleased to announce that Dominic Nocera of Lincoln High School is the recipient of the 2017 Dom Viccari-McDonald’s of Ellwood City Scholarship. Nocera will receive $1,000 towards his college tuition in recognition of his academic achievement, leadership ability and community service. Celebration of the Arts Event

The Ellwood City Area Public Library is hosting its second annual “Celebration of the Arts” event in July, with this year’s theme centering around local artists and their work. Vogel Applauds Bipartisan Passage of Historic Pension Reform

Today (June 5) the Senate approved legislation reforming Pennsylvania’s two largest public pension systems, the Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS)  and the State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS). Ellwood City Homeowners Reminded to Follow Property Standards

A press release was issued by the Borough office to remind residents that failure to comply with the minimum property standards could result in citations for code violation. Borough Utility Collection Office Closed June 5-9

According to a press release made available this morning, the Borough of Ellwood City Utility Collection Office will be closed from June 5 – 9, 2017 for training. The Borough has updated their software and it is necessary, in order to better serve our customers, to close the office for this purpose. If you require services for utilities, shelter rentals, or other related matters, please contact the Borough Secretary’s office at 724-758-7777. EC Adult Basketball: Season 3 In The Books

Season 3 of the Ellwood City Basketball League is officially in the books. What a wild scene it was at the Family Center throughout the playoffs, and wild has never looked so good! To get the playoffs started, the first ever League MVP was announced.  With each Team Captain putting forth two votes; neither vote being one of their own team members,  it was Chris “King of the Castle” Smiley who emerged as the MVP, narrowly edging out Anthony “The Most Docious” Ovial.  Smiley was the backbone of Turncoats throughout the season, helping them to a league best 16-2 regular season…

Dominic Nocera, a 2017 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City was awarded the second Tommy Novosel Scholarship at a service on May 28th at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish in Ellwood City. Dominic was a member of the National Honor Society, Peer Leadership, Student Council and Club Hope. He was an altar server at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a volunteer for the Carpenter’s Project. His future studies will be in Biomedical Engineering – Prosthetics. PPA Factors, Energy Costs and Consumption Comparison for Billings March 2017-June 2017 and Corresponding Previous Year

The attached information is being provided in order to inform Ellwood City Electric customers of the effect the reduction in the Transmission and Capacity charges set by PJM has had upon the Rate Adjustment (PPA Factor) and customer billings during the months of March 2017 through the upcoming billing in June 2017. Comparisons of PPA components (Energy Purchased, American Municipal Power-Power Charges, as well as Transmission and Capacity Charges) were used. The Rate Adjustment is added to the electric bill of each user, Residential, Commercial and Industrial. The March 2017 Rate Adjustment was 2.40 cents per kWh while in 2016…
