CCBC Expands Nursing Program to Washington County

(Monaca, PA) – Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) has announced the expansion of its associate degree in nursing program to a site in Washington County. The Western Area Career and Technology Center (WACTC), located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, will serve as a new location for CCBC’s nursing program, providing expanded career opportunities for Washington County practical nursing students interested in advancing as registered nurses. Lincoln Class of 1954 “Night at the Movies”

The Lincoln Class of 1954 “Night at the Movies” event on Saturday, July 15, began with the arrival of guests driving around the lawn display of parking spaces marked by posts holding the “speakers” facing a large marquee inscribed “Blue Sky Drive-In” and screen with now playing “Night at the Movies.” Leading up to the entrance of the Ellwood City Saxon Club, the movie popcorn smell greeted the arrivals as they entered and were registered by Pudue LaCava, Bob Calve, “Pinky” Maielli and Ellie Paul. 6th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup

Calling All Volunteers & Supporters! The 6th Annual Connoquenessing Creek Cleanup is approaching! Please help us restore this important waterway back to its beautiful, natural state by removing the physical garbage that consumes it. Third Street Resident Wins Final Beautification Award

On Tuesday, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented to Ronalyn Parsons of 3rd Street, Ellwood City with the 6th and final 2017 Beautification Award Winner sign and gift certificate. The landscape at her families home shows the care and effort put into making the it enjoyable view for others. Mayor Court wants to thank everyone who participated in this annual event. Many nominations were received and he wishes he could award many more residents. Mayor Court wishes to thank those businesses who donated the gift certificates and the Ellwood City Forge for helping with the signs.

Lincoln High Varsity Football Announcement

Any boy entering grades 9 through 12 this fall is reminded that football practices begin on August 7, 2017 at Hellings Stadium at 1:30 pm. Prior to attending this practice student/athletes are required to complete a PIAA physical exam. The physical exam paperwork can be picked up at the high school office from 8 am. to 2 pm. Monday through Friday. No student can participate without a physical exam. Equipment will be issued to players on August 2, 2017 at 6:30 pm. at Helling Stadium.

Bernstine Announces $460,000 to Improve Drinking Water in Wampum

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that $460,000 in state funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PennVEST) will allow Wampum Borough in Lawrence County to move forward with its plans to improve municipal drinking water. “The quality of water in Wampum has been an issue for many years,” Bernstine said. “I was happy to work with the local elected officials, as well as the state, to expedite the process of this grant. Art on the Avenue: Celebration of the Arts

The library is hosting an Art on the Avenue: Celebration of the Arts event on Friday, July 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. This is the library’s second annual Celebration of the Arts; last year, they hosted a wonderful author fair with 250 people in attendance. This year’s event will be very similar in nature; 28 local artists will be participating and will be placed around the library in an easy-for-folks-to-browse style. Butler, PA – Students who enroll in Butler County Community College’s auto technician certificate program now have the opportunity to work at one of four nearby new-car stores while pursuing the nine-month course and upon graduation, find a job that eventually pays $30 per hour or more, a dealership administrator said.
