Portersville Christian School Information Night/Open House

Portersville Christian School will hold an Information Night/Open House at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, for families interested in enrolling students for the 2018-2019 school year. The school is accepting student applications and registrations prior to the release of next year’s tuition schedule at the end of March.  In addition to kindergarten, there are openings in most grade levels for fall of 2018.  Interested families who have students entering kindergarten and grades 7 and 9 are encouraged to apply early, since these grades tend to fill up fast. Butler, PA – Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of those students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester, as well as recent graduates. Bernstine Announces Scholarship Awards to Local Teachers for Innovative Learning Projects

ELLWOOD CITY – State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced four local educators who work at schools in the 10th Legislative District were awarded scholarships to help implement innovative, career-oriented classroom projects. Girls Can Learn STEM, Robot-Building and Programming in Free BC3 Events

Butler, PA – Girls in grades 7 to 9 can hone their understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics by building and programming the latest LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots in two free programs debuting at Butler County Community College. BC3 will offer for the first time a “Girls One-Day STEM Challenge” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 27, and a 12-session “Girls Rule the World with STEM” from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 through April 25. Community Development Grant Survey Form

The Borough of Ellwood City is trying to utilize grant funds for street improvements on Franklin Avenue from Second Street to the dead end (heading west). A “Community Development Block Grant Survey Form” was hand-delivered to the residents living within this targeted area. It is imperative that the surveys are completed and returned to the Borough as soon as possible. As a condition of the grant the residents living in this area have to meet a certain income guidelines. Hence, the reason for the survey. Syrian Visits Riverside, Discusses Middle Eastern Life With Students

On Thursday, January 18, Mr. Osama Alomar visited Riverside High School to speak to Mrs. Boots’ World Cultures classes, Mrs. Frank’s English classes, and Mrs. Pinchot’s AP Journalism classes. His visit is thanks to a generous grant from the Riverside Community Education Foundation. Mrs. Boots’ World Cultures classes are completing a unit on the Middle East, so had plenty of questions for Mr. Alomar about his life in Syria, his opinion of President Assad, and his assessment of the violence in Syria.
