Red Barn Players Return With Four Summer Shows

After a couple of long, hard years, the Red Barn Players are excited to announce their 2022 season. The theater will be back to their normal schedule of four shows performed in the months of June, July, August, and September and season tickets are now available. Ellwood City boys basketball has earned a spot in the PIAA Basketball Championships and will be pitted against one of the top ranked Class-3A teams on Wednesday. Riverside Swimming Collects WPIAL Relay Golds, Roth Sets WPIAL Record

The Riverside Boys Swimming team collected a WPIAL Gold in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relay events and set WPIAL records – both collectively and individually – along the way during the WPIAL Swimming Championships this past weekend at the University of Pittsburgh. The 200-yard Freestyle relay Gold was the program’s third consecutive crown. Annual Ellwood City Easter Egg Hunt Returns!

The Easter Bunny Is Back. The 27th Annual community Easter Egg Hunt is set to return to an in-person event in April! After COVID safety concerns cancelled the event entirely in 2020 and later forced a drive-thru only event in 2021, the event will return to Ewing Park on Saturday, April 9, 2022. “We are working on so much to make up for the two years we didn’t get to hold our event,” says committee member Kathy Brenner. FORMER ELLWOOD CITY MAN CHARGED WITH WITNESS RETALIATION: A former Ellwood City man who is serving a federal prison sentence has been indicted by a federal grand jury for witness retaliation, United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced Friday. The one-count Indictment, which was returned on October 26, 2021, and unsealed today, named Derick Davare, age 35, as the sole defendant. Riverside Swim Team Defends Section Title, Eyes WPIAL Championships

For a fourth consecutive year, the Riverside High School Swim Team has earned section championship bragging rights. The boys finished a perfect 8-0 in their Class-AA section with their latest victory against the Beaver Bobcats on February 17th The co-op swimming team consisting of Ellwood City and Riverside athletes will next look towards defending various titles at the WPIAL Championships later this week, Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Alexander “Alex” Scott Hohbach, age 34, formerly of Ellwood City passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 18, 2022 at his residence in West Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He was born on January 8, 1988 to Holly and Allen Hohbach. Alex attended Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and received his GED in June 2007. He continued his education at Butler County Community College with an associates degree in General Studies. After college he spent his time doing traveling sales.
