Ellwood City Fire Department Among Many To Receive State Grants

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) announced Wednesday local fire companies and emergency medical services (EMS) agencies were awarded state grants totaling nearly $216,000 from the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. The program was created by the Legislature and is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). POLICE: Local Narcotics Raid Leads To Arrest

On January 30th, 2025, members of the Lawrence County District Attorney’s HIDTA Drug Task Force, the Ellwood City Police Department, and the Lawrence County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) executed a search warrant at 306 Wood Street, Ellwood City. Operation “The Issue is Smoot” began at approximately 6:10 a.m. when CIRT knocked and announced their presence. Once no contact was made at the front door, entry was made. CIRT secured the residence, locating and detaining one female. The target of the investigation, 26-year-old Aubrey Quillan Smoot, was not present at the residence. Riverside Beaver County School District Pre-K and Kindergarten registration is now open. Children who will be 5 years old before September 1, 2025 and are residents of the Riverside Beaver County School District are eligible to begin the enrollment process for kindergarten. PLAYOFFS! Three Local Basketball Teams Qualify For WPIAL Playoffs

For the second consecutive season both the Ellwood City boys and girls basketball teams have qualified for their respective WPIAL Playoffs. The Riverside Panthers girls basketball team has also qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs. The Lady Wolverines (13-8, 8-6 Section 1-3A), who drew a #10 seed, will travel to Chartiers Valley HS on Friday evening to face #5 Seton LaSalle in opening round action. Butler County Community College is proud to announce the names of students who have made the President’s List and Dean’s List for the fall 2024 semester, as well as the names of those who have graduated recently. PHOTOS: Riverside Boys Basketball Team Defeats New Brighton On Senior Night

Evan Skinner led a trio of Panthers scoring in double figures Friday night as Riverside knocked off New Brighton 65-36 on Senior Night. Skinner finished with four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points in the victory. Will Sullivan (16 points) and McCartney Plassmeyer (10 points) joined Skinner in double figures. Skinner poured in 13 first half points as Riverside raced out to a 36-17 halftime advantage. Riverside Boys Swimming Team Earns Runner-Up Finish At Beaver County Championships

The Riverside Varsity Swimming competed at the Beaver County Swim and Dive Championships last weekend at Beaver Area High School The Riverside Boys Team earned runner-up for the meet while the Riverside Girls Team finished 5th. This is a new meet added for the teams this season where six schools from Beaver County met to compete. PHOTOS: Riverside Routs New Brighton On Senior Night

The Riverside girls basketball team easily dispatched of visiting New Brighton Thursday night during its senior night contest. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lions 60-7 to help run their regular season record to 14-8 Overall. DeLana Fox and Camryn Friello each scored 11 points for Riverside. Emma Meyer also reached double figures with 10 points in the victory. Riverside now sits at 9-5 in Section 1-3A along with Beaver Falls, both one game ahead of Ellwood City.
