PHOTOS: Ellwood City Celebrates Earth Day

From exotic animal encounters to a trashion-fashion show, live performances, Eco-friendly vendors, and much more – The Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce put together an Earth Day celebration to remember. While the annual event gets bigger every year, their newest addition to the celebration is the Trashion Show. With over half a dozen local competitors, the Ewing stage was filled with fashionable trash outfits crafted completely out of recyclable materials. PHOTOS: Perry Elementary Students Visit Jurassic Library

After dedicating five weeks of hard work in the Arts & Bots after school program, the 5th and 6th graders of Hartman Intermediate finally showcased their dinosaur-robotic creations to the 3rd and 4th graders at Perry Elementary School during the Jurassic Library event Friday morning. Mr. Marsh, the elementary art teacher, Mr. Setzenfand, the Wolverine Workshop instructor and Mr. Skoczylas, elementary computer teacher, were in charge of the club and event. School Board Meet The Candidate Night Set For Tomorrow Evening

The Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet will again be hosting Meet the Candidate nights starting with the School Board candidates tomorrow evening, Tuesday, April 25 in Municipal Building auditorium from 6:30-8:00p.m. The Kitchen Cabinet started Meet the Candidates Night so guests could have the opportunity to attend and listen to the candidates present their remarks as well as answering questions. Ellwood City Bald Eagles Return to Nest

A walk to the natural trail at Rodger’s Park yesterday confirmed the eagles of Ellwood City have again returned to their nest to raise this years hatchlings! Along the banks of the Connoquenessing Creek in Wayne Township is a family of bald eagles. Every year, since 2010, the couple has returned to the same nest to raise eaglets. To find the nest, drive to Rodger’s Park in Ellport, colloquially referred to as “The Hole,” and walk down the nature trail toward the Connoquenessing and several islands. BREAKING: Cleveland Facebook Killer Commits Suicide in Erie

The manhunt for Steve Stephens has come to a halt according to GoErie.com. “Steve Stephens found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound in white Ford Fusion on Buffalo Road, Erie police confirmed. State police had been following the car as it was headed west into the city of Erie,” the site states. Stephens shot and killed himself after a brief pursuit, police said. The incident follows a three day long manhunt of Stephens after he targeted and murdered a random elderly man in Cleveland Sunday afternoon and uploaded footage of the killing to Facebook. Easter Sunday Shooter Suspected in Western Pennsylvania

UPDATED: 4/18 at 10a.m. A manhunt has been warranted in several states after suspect, Steve Stephens, shot and killed an elderly man midday Easter Sunday and uploaded the killing to his Facebook page. According to reports, Stephens, 37, of Cleveland Ohio, fatally shot random passerby 74-year-old Robert Godwin in a residential area east of Cleveland, uploaded footage of the shooting to his Facebook, and fled the scene. Last night police stated the suspect “may be out of state,” and prompted locals in the surrounding states of Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana and Michigan to be vigilant on his whereabouts. “He is considered…
