Yesterday, House Bill 2030, which modifies the Ellwood City borough electric department, passed in a 106-89 vote. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10, New Beaver, will now pass to the state senate. The bill will prevent the borough from transferring funds from the electric department to the General Fund and includes additional provisions for consumer protection. The bill’s language limits its impact to boroughs providing electric to more than one county. Mrs. Dorothy M. Barrett, 90, of Ellwood City passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at her daughters residence in Beaver Falls. Mrs. Barrett was born on August 8, 1927 in New Brighton to the late Joseph Hagans and Verda Penney. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. Dorothy had worked at Airway Industries in West Pittsburgh for several years, and later as a homemaker. She enjoyed coloring, watching reality TV and soap operas.
