Mr. Emmett A. D’Ambrosio, 89, of Franklin Twp. passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in the Ellwood City Hospital.
Mr. D’Ambrosio was born on September 26, 1927 in Ellwood City to the late Frank and Lizana Innocent D’Ambrosio, Sr.. Emmett is a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1945 and the Holy Redeemer Parish. He enlisted with the U.S. Marines on July 5, 1945 and served until his discharge on October 19, 1945. Emmett then served with the United States Secret Service as a Special Agent for several years. He later worked for the Metropolitan Insurance Company, and then with Montgomery Wards for 35 years as a retail manager. He was an avid golfer and had a 10 handicap.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Scott) Whitfield of Phoenix, AZ, and Linda (Russell) Young of Sacramento, CA, his son, Thomas (Elizabeth) D’Ambrosio of Portland, OR, his 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Isabella Costa of Ellwood City, and Louise Paglia of Hermitage, his brother, Frank (Mable) D’Ambrosio, Jr. of Ellwood City, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phillis Bowers D’Ambrosio, his sisters, Jennie Cortese, Theresa Roberson, Mary Morini, and Lillie Bernabe, and her brothers, Fred, Anthony, Guy Idona, Domenic, Angelo, and Alfonso D’Ambrosio.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at which time the family will recite the Rosary in The Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the Holy Redeemer Church. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday by 9:20 am. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the Holy Redeemer Church on Thursday by 10:45 am to Conduct full military honors. Interment will take place in Bel Air, Maryland.
