Mr. William G. Strouse, Jr., 85, of Ellwood City passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Butler.
Mr. Strouse was born on July 6, 1931 in Ellwood City to the late William G. and Agnes Leymarie Strouse, Sr.. Bill served with the U.S. Army from November 16, 1948 until his discharge on November 28,m 1951 with the 39th Field Artillery Battalion and held the rank of corporal. He was awarded the Japan Occupation Medal and the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze campaign stars. He had worked as a salesman and a Drivers Education Instructor. He is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish, and was affiliated with many clubs and organizations in the Ellwood City area.Bill had also served on the Ellwood City Borough Council for four years, and was a member of the Shenango Valley Beagle Club, and the V.F.W. Post 252. He also enjoyed boating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Ruth Rankin and Patty Franus.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 am until Noon in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Blessing Service for Bill will be held on Tuesday at Noon in the funeral home. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home on Tuesday by 11:45 am to conduct full military honors.
