The Riverside Panthers used a third quarter surge to find its way to a thrilling 28-26 homecoming victory over Freedom Friday evening.
Aiden Gaydosz found Bron Paxton with a pair of touchdown strikes and rushed in for a third touchdown in the pivotal quarter as Riverside erased a halftime deficit and surged out to a 28-20 lead.
The visiting Bulldogs used an impressive ground attack to race out to a 20-7 halftime advantage behind two scored by running back Kaden Bailey. The backer, who entered the game the 3rd leading rusher in WPIAL, finished with 232 yards rushing in the contest.
Not to be outdone, Gaydosz went to the air to the tune of 226 yards and three touchdown strikes for Riverside. Long touchdown strikes of 51-yards to Danny Viscuso in the first quarter and 35-yard and 53-yard strikes to Paxton in the third quarter garnered a third of his nine completions in the contest.
Montgomery Michael finished with 76 yards rushing to lead the Panthers ground attack.
Riverside (5-1 Overall) next will travel to Beaver Falls to face the Tigers on Friday.
Adriana Viscuso was crowned Riverside Homecoming Queen at halftime.
