The full notice reads as follows:
Dear Ellwood City Area School District Families, Staff, and Community Members,
As part of our ongoing facilities planning process, the Ellwood City Area School District is investigating the possibility of transitioning from four instructional buildings to three buildings.
No decision has been made to close a school. At this stage, our responsibility is to thoroughly examine the options available to the District and provide the Board and community with the information necessary to make an informed decision.
As part of this process, the District is reviewing current and projected enrollment, educational programming, building capacity, facility conditions and future capital needs, staffing, transportation, operating costs, potential savings, and the impact that any change could have on our students and community.
An important part of this process is hearing from you.
The Board of School Directors will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Junior/Senior High School Cafeteria.
The hearing will provide an opportunity for the District to share information regarding the facilities investigation and for members of the public to provide input for the Board’s consideration. We are also asking District families, employees, students, taxpayers, and community members to complete our Facilities Planning Community Survey. The survey is intended to help the Board better understand the priorities, concerns, and perspectives of our community. Survey results will be one part of the information considered alongside educational, financial, transportation, enrollment, and facility data.
Complete the Community Survey by Friday, October 23 at the below link or stop in to District Offices for a hard copy of the survey: https://forms.gle/oRKGuU29E8g5sviJ6
We recognize that decisions involving our schools are important to our students, families, staff, and the entire Ellwood City community. We are committed to approaching this process carefully, transparently, and with a focus on what will best position the District to serve our students now and in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about this process, participate in the survey, and share your perspective.
Amy Anderson, Ed.D.
Superintendent
