John A. “Jam” Mohr, 74, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung disease.
Born on July 23, 1951, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Geraldine Maggi Mohr and John R. Mohr.
John was the devoted husband and best friend of Deborah Lee (Fusco) Mohr, with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life. Together they built a loving family that was the center of his world. He is survived by his beloved children, Stephanie N. (Mohr) Kelosky and Brian M. (Lindsay) Mohr. Nothing brought John greater joy than being “Papa” to his five cherished grandchildren: Gabriel F. Kelosky, Alexander D. Kelosky, Elise H. Kelosky, Carson A. Mohr, and Mia A. Mohr. They gave his life a whole new meaning, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Frances Fusco.
John graduated from Ellwood City High School in 1969 and dedicated 30 years of service to Hussey Copper before retiring in 2010.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, John had a passion for baseball and was a devoted fan of Pittsburgh’s Black and Gold teams, especially the Pirates. He generously gave his time coaching youth baseball, softball, and football, sharing his love of sports with countless young athletes. He also coached men’s softball for many years, leaving a lasting impact on those who played alongside him.
Music was another of John’s great passions. In his younger years, he was an accomplished trombone player and proudly performed with The Contempos throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He was also an active member of the Ellwood City Jaycees, where he enjoyed serving his community. And proudly served as President and treasurer of his Union for decades.
Later in life, John strengthened his relationship with God and was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
John’s warm smile, contagious laugh, generous spirit, and enormous heart touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he made brighter.
