Koppel, PA (January 15, 2026) – Tenaris is restarting heat treatment and finishing operations at its Koppel, PA manufacturing facility, reinforcing its commitment to supply domestically produced steel pipes for the US energy sector. This follows a $2.1 million USD investment to restart operations and strengthen Tenaris’s industrial production footprint in the US. Tenaris is hiring more than 80 employees to support the reactivation of these lines.
“Reopening the heat treatment and finishing lines in Koppel reinforces the strength of our domestic production capabilities for our customers across the US,” says Guillermo Moreno, Tenaris US President. “Koppel remains a cornerstone of our US operations, allowing us to deliver high quality steel products that support US energy and industrial needs,” adds Moreno.
Tenaris operates an integrated steel pipe manufacturing system in Pennsylvania and Ohio. In Koppel, PA, steel billets are produced in an electric arc furnace for seamless pipe manufacturing. These billets are sent to Ambridge, PA to be rolled into seamless oil country tubular goods (OCTG) according to customer specifications. The pipes return to Koppel to be heat treated through quenching and tempering, followed by finishing, nondestructive testing, and inspection. In the final stage at the Brookfield, OH facility, the pipes are threaded and undergo final inspection before being shipped to oil and gas customers across the US.
The reactivation of the heat treatment and finishing operations follows more than $150 million USD invested in the adjacent Koppel steel shop, including an $85 million USD exhaust system upgrade completed four months earlier to enhance sustainability, as well as the purchase of Beaver Falls scrap processing yard by Steel Recycling Services, a Tenaris subsidiary, to streamline and optimize its production process in the US.
The company employs more than 3,600 employees across the US and is currently hiring for its Pennsylvania facilities.
