Mr. Marino A. Parascenzo, 95, of Franklin Township, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Trinity Oaks Personal Care Home.
Born August 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Demeterio and Dena (DePaul) Parascenzo. A graduate of Lincoln High School, he served in the United States Air Force before earning a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Penn State University.
Marino spent his career as a sports journalist, writing for the Ellwood City Ledger and New Castle News before retiring from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as an award-winning writer. He received the PGA of America Lifetime Achievement Award and was recognized by the Masters Tournament, the Memorial Tournament, and the University of Pittsburgh, where he also taught Sports Journalism. He authored two histories of Oakmont Country Club and served as past president of the Golf Writers Association of America.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leona (Koziar) Parascenzo; his daughter, Marina (Christopher) Parascenzo-Brush of Seattle, WA; granddaughter, Lily Brush of Seattle, WA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh, and sisters, Mary Ann Ferruchie, Henrietta Zona, and Concetta Caminite.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, from 4–7 p.m., and Friday at 10 a.m. until the blessing service at 11 a.m. at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., with Father Jim Wehner officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Loved seeing him at the bank where I worked many years ago! Was always pleasant to deal with. RIP my friend.
