An Ellwood City native, Betty Lee MacDonald, 92, of Zanesville, Ohio, died Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born August 10, 1932, to the late Norman Harold and Nellie L. (Newton) Boots. She married Gene L. MacDonald on July 14, 1951. They were married 65 years until his death in 2017.
Betty and Gene moved to Zanesville in 1966. She first worked as a teacher’s aide, then moved onto her career in Real Estate. She excelled at knowing the town and was a great resource for all things Zanesville. She also gave 50 years of dedication to Genesis as a volunteer.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Les) Smith, Tim MacDonald (Michelle) and Stacey MacDonald (Todd); grandchildren Cara Dodson (Judd), Harmony Longstreth, Mason Smith (Alyssa), Jamie Zochi (Mark), Devin MacDonald, Maili MacDonald; great-grandchildren Morgan Longstreth (Max), Drake Dodson (McKenzi) and Kinley Dodson; and son-in-law Robert (Dink) Heinzman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene L. MacDonald; three brothers; one sister; her daughter, Patricia Longstreth Heinzman; and two grandsons Ryan Longstreth and Shayne MacDonald.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Betty’s life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville.
