Mrs. Edna G. (Sullivan) Funari, 91, passed away on May 24, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on August 5, 1933, in Ellwood City, PA, daughter of the late Alfred and Edna Sullivan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness touched all who knew and loved her.
Edna enjoyed the time she spent working at Holy Redeemer Social Services, where she loved helping the community. Yet her greatest joy came from being with her family. She reveled in her role as wife, mother, and “Grammy.”
Left to honor Edna’s memory are her three children: Joseph (Lynn) Funari of Ellwood City; Maria (Keith) Hendershot of Marion Twp.; and Gina (Tim) Saxton of Boardman, OH. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Lara Hendershot; Zak (Hannah) Hendershot; Anna, Alicia, and Ashley Saxton; Amanda Funari; Lauren Funari; Taylor Funari; and great-grandchildren Blayklee, Lacey, and Casen Hendershot; and Steven and Sienna Perkins. She is also survived by two brothers: James (Lorraine) Sullivan and William (Pauline) Sullivan, along with many nieces and nephews, who fondly referred to her as “Aunt Grace”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony, and her sweet son, Anthony, who we know she is reunited with in Heaven; her brothers George Sullivan, Alfred Sullivan, and Melvin Sullivan; and her sisters Lydia McClary, Eleanor Wimer, and Donna Trn.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible caregivers who watched over our sweet Edna for the last 10 years of her life. These angels on earth include Mundy Myers-Priscilla and the staff of LIFE of Lawrence County and the extraordinary group of nurses and aides on the Memory Care Unit at Quality of Life Services in New Castle. The love and compassion they showed our mother is a gift we will cherish forever. We hope you always remember “Edna Grace with the funny face” singing “Glory, Glory Hallelujah.”
In accordance with the family’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Entombment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The final arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..
Donations in memory of Edna can be made to LIFE of Lawrence County and Quality of Life Services in New Castle.
Matthew 25:21 – “His Lord said unto him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
