Karolina Gaul, 90, of Ellwood City, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Concordia at Wexford.
Born in Germany on July 24, 1934, Karolina was the daughter of the late Karl and Elizabeth Platzer. She married Eugene “Gene” Gaul on January 29, 1957, and spent sixty-five years together until he preceded her in death in 2022. Karolina was a member of the Ellport Presbyterian Church, a founding member of the Ellwood City Lioness Club and a former member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family.
Karolina is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Cynthia Gaul of Beaver Falls, Tom and Betty Gaul of Slippery Rock, Eric and April Gaul of Ellwood City, thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Karolina was preceded in death by her daughter, Jodi Pensy and three sisters.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 19th from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 5:30 PM with Pastor Charlene Kennedy of the Ellport Presbyterian Church, celebrant. Interment will take place in Locust Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Karolia’s family suggests memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Ellport Presbyterian Church, c/o John Dobi, Treasurer, 421 Mahony Ave., Ellwood City, PA 16117.
I enjoyed being friends with Karolina as well as the numerous gatherings throughout the many years. Lina had invited me to come to her Ellport Church as my church was disbanding.. She was a great lady and will be truly missed.
