Riverside Mercy Rules Steel Valley in Second Round of Playoffs

In yet another mercy rule victory, the Riverside baseball team shut down Steel Valley 10-0 in the second round of the playoffs yesterday. On Tuesday, Riverside had done the same thing, with the same score, to New Brighton.

Riverside earned 10 runs in the first four innings. After neither team scored in the fifth, the game ended via the mercy rule. Hitting and runs were distributed across the Panthers’ roster, with Dylan Speicher, Ricky Wass and Braden Bentel each getting two hits.

Pitcher Adam Jeannette fanned seven batter and had no hits against, effectively pinning Steel Valley to home plate.

Riverside next plays Keystone Oaks at Burkette Complex 2 p.m. on Monday, May 23.
