McCartney Plassmeyer poured in a game high 25 points Monday evening to lead Riverside to a 59-44 victory over Western Beaver.
The 6’1′ junior guard connected on two 3-pointers and posted 14 first half points as the Panthers jumped out to a 28-22 halftime advantage.
A decisive 16-7 third quarter spurt helped Riverside pull away for victory. Plassmeyer collected eight points in the final frame to help the Panthers secure the victory.
Ivan Skinner and Drake Fox each collected a 3-pointer for the Panthers.
The scoring outburst by Plassmeyer’s follows his 18-point effort Friday night as Riverside defeated Laurel 51-35.
WOLVERINES SPLIT WITH HOPEWELL
The Ellwood City boys and girls basketball teams split their respective games against Hopewell on Monday evening.
For the victors, the Lady Wolverines used a game high 18 points from Caitlyn Kreitzer to earn a 46-37 victory at home over the Vikings. The scoring output matched a career high for Kreitzer.
Kayla Jones (15 points) and Delaney Sturgeon (11 points) joined Kreitzer in double figures to pace the Ellwood City scoring attack.
After seeing a 28-18 halftime lead evaporate to just a two point advantage after three quarters, Ellwood City stood ground and held the visiting Vikings to only two points in the final quarter.
The Lady Wolverines (3-1 Overall) next travel to Cornell HS to face OLSH on Thursday.
The Wolverine boys basketball team was defeated 69-60 on the road Monday night at Hopewell.
Four Ellwood City starters scored in double figures for a sound scoring attack, but Viking guard Zach Kowell scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Vikings to its victory.
Aaron Lake (16 points), Kaleb Servick (13 points), Jackson Kerr (13 points), and Chris Smiley (11 points) paced the Wolverines scoring attack. Lake score eight points in the final frame as the Wolverines scrambled to overcome a double digit deficit.
Ellwood City (2-3 Overall) next will host Laurel Spartans at home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
