Darla J. Anderson, 76, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at her residence in New Castle.
Darla was born in Ellwood City on July 14th, 1948 to the late Milton C. and Gertrude M. (Cragle) Anderson. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1966, Geneva College with a degree in elementary education, and from Duquesne University with a Master’s Degree in Education. Darla worked for Butler, East Liverpool, OH, and retired in McKeesport as a school teacher. She also became a beloved substitute teacher to all of her students. She is a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City. Darla loved house plants and flowers. She was also known for her excellence at cooking, more specifically, her Italian cooking, and especially, her perfected Italian dressing recipe. She would enjoy experimenting with different recipes she would find in cook books, and make them for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Mckee-Fontana of McKeesport, son, Michael Fontana of New Castle, grandchildren, Tyler Fontana and Aubree McKee of McKeesport, and niece, Maddie Anderson of Key West, FL.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Milton C. and Ailene Anderson II and her maternal-grandmother, Lela Cragle.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. with Rev. Sean Brubaker officiating.
Memorial Contributions in Darla’s name may be made out to the Calvin Presbyterian Church at 615 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, Pa 16117.
