Douglas R. Johnston, 77, of Ellwood City, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Born in Pittsburgh on August 2, 1947, Douglas was the son of the late Ralph W. and Jean Kurtley Johnston, Sr. Douglas is survived by his wife, the former Elaine Meta, whom he married on February 8, 1969. Douglas retired from the Finance Department at UPMC Passavant in 2014 after 23 years of service. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry Township. Douglas was a Veteran of the Army serving from 1966 through 1968. An avid Steeler Fan, Douglas enjoyed gardening but mostly he enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife Elaine, Douglas is survived by his sons, Douglas R. and Tabatha Johnston, Jr. of Butler and Gregory M. and Jessica Johnston of Ellwood City, 7 grandchildren, Gabbie, Jakob, Emilee, Jayson, Ethan, Madison and Kaylee, 3 great grandchildren, Charlie, Evy and Cody, a brother, Dennis and Linda Johnston of Bellview and a sister-in-law, Donna and Len Zak of Ft. Worth, TX and his 4 fur kids, Bubba, Buddy, Winston and Max.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Jeffrey Johnston and a grandson, Cody Johnston.
As per Douglas’ wishes, funeral services were private.
