Helen G. Mantz, 98

Ms. Helen G. Mantz, 98, of Ellwood City, passed away on October 14th, 2024 at her residence.

Helen was born on November 11th, 1925 in Ellwood City to the late James and Mary (Minnocci) Mantz. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1941. Helen belonged to Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, and was also a Christian Mother. She starting working for Shapiro’s Dress Shop in 1942, and eventually bought the business upon the previous owner’s retirement. Once hers, she renamed the business “Helen’s Dress Shop, Bridal and Formal” and remained in business until her retirement, at 88 years old. Helen was an avid Notre Dame and football fan. She was a hard worker, who took pride in everything she did.

Helen is survived by her sister, Joan Clark, of TN, beloved dog, Peyton, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James A. “Jimmy” Mantz, brother and sister-in-law, Carl “Rizzo” and Geri Mantz, sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Tim O’Brien, and brother-in-law, Chuck Clark.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18th from 10:00 am.-11:00 a.m. at Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joseph Freedy officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc..

Memorial Contributions in Helen’s name may be made out to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund at: 300 Crescent Ave., Ellwood City, Pa 16117

Pall Bearers are asked to meet at the church entrance on Friday, by 9:30 a.m.

Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the back of church at 11:50 a.m. to form an honor guard.
