Charles Robert “Bob” Lambert, 82

Charles Robert “Bob” Lambert, 82, of Perry Township passed away at Cambridge Falls, Big Beaver Borough, on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Born in New Castle on January 28, 1941, Bob was the son of the late Robert Andrew and Sara Houk Lambert.  He is survived by his wife, Lynda McKinney Lambert, whom he married on April 14, 1961 in Auburn, Indiana at the First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Miles Freeman.

Besides his wife, Bob is survived by five children, Salome Lambert (the late Dennis) Mengel of Darlington, PA, Heidi Lambert (Gerald) McClure of Creekside, PA, Victoria Lambert Jacques of Milwaukee, WI, Ilsa Lambert (Anthony) Barry of Burlington, KY and Robert Andrew Lambert (Dr. Carla Richardson) of Silver Springs, MD, seven grandchildren, Brandi Yaromey, of West Mayfield, Angelique Yaromey, of Ellwood City, Nicole Jacques, of Milwaukee, WI, Sean Jacques of Kenosha, WI, Stephen Barry of Burlington, KY, Matthew Barry of Calhan, CO and Brittany Lambert of MA, five great grandchildren, Delaunay Yaromey of Beaver Falls, Giovanni Laderer of West Mayfield, Braden Durbin, Isabella Trputec and Ava Sue Trputec all of Ellwood City.

Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Lambert Buzzelli.

Bob owned and operated Lamberts Auto Body in Perry Township from 1968 to 2014.  Bob closed this business in April when he was diagnosed and began treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was the recipient of a stem cell transplant at West Penn Hospital and was still in remission at the time of his death.

From 1958 to 1964 Bob worked as an autobody repairperson at Pearsall’s Auto Body.  Bob worked at Matthews Conveyor Company from 1964 to 1976 serving an apprenticeship as a Fitter-Welder.  He worked in the Maintenance and Fitting Departments as a First-Class Fitter.  He operated equipment such as welders, burners, drill-press punches, shears, saws, high-lifts and cranes.  He also worked as a Field Service Technician in installation and repair.  From 1976 through 1981 Bob worked at Pelloni’s Auto Service as Body Shop Foreman, A.R. Oliastro Excavating and Paving and Clem’s Trailer Sales as a Service Manager, Body Shop Foreman, Inspection Mechanic and Supervisor of the Service Department.  From 1981 to 1985 Bob owned and managed the Fombell General Store and also worked as an auto body technician at Freeman Buick and Pontiac.  From 1987 to 1991 he worked at Morrow Motors as Service Manager, Body Shop Foreman and Inspection Mechanic.  From 1991 through 1992 Bob worked in ground maintenance at Whisman School District, Mountain View, CA.  After moving back to Ellwood in 1993, Bob worked as the Maintenance Supervisor at Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts in New Castle where he managed two mansions, two carriage houses and five acres of property with formal gardens.

Bob graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1958, he loved attending his class reunions and staying in touch with his former classmates.  He was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church, formerly located in Ellwood City.  Bob enjoyed country western dancing for many years with his wife.  He was also an avid fan of motorcycle riding from an early age.  He rode his favorite Honda year-round.  He specialized in beautiful paint jobs for motorcycles in his River Road body shop.

Bob also loved art and attending art exhibitions.  As a sculptor who worked in steel, his steel sculptures were exhibited at Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh.  Bob and Lynda had a two person show of his sculptures at Houghton College, NY where Bob gave a presentation to the audience on making his sculptures.  He was also part of a six-person exhibition at the Butler Art Gallery in Butler, PA.

Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from Noon to 2:00 P.M. when a Funeral Service will be offered by Pastor Bill Blume.  Interment will be in Wurtemburg Cemetery.

Bob’s family would like to recognize and thank the staff of Cambridge Falls for their compassionate care of Bob over the last year.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s name to Lawrence Co. Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Rd., New Castle, PA  16101.
