Lou L. Gatto, 93

Mr. Lou L. Gatto, 93, passed on from this Earth on December 23rd, 2021 at 3:00 pm. The world will greatly miss our patriarch, but heaven will rejoice. Dad talked with God and got his prayers answered. He was able to pass away at home with his children around him and in his sleep.

He is survived by his precious sister Sandy, his children Doug, Beth, and Chris, his grandchildren Dani and Rocco, and great grandchildren Isaiah, Noah, Isabella, Dylan, and Jude. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cynthia, his daughter Linda and five precious brothers who are rejoicing at his arrival.

Dad was born in Brooklyn, NY, the oldest son of Rocco and Elizabeth (Esposito) Gatto, Italian Immigrants. He worked at the Tube Mill like his father, and became a Hot Mill Foreman. Dad served in Korea as a Technical Sergeant and a Tank Artillery Specialist.

He later taught naturalization classes, special education, and coached football at Lincoln High School. By taking night classes he obtained his Masters Degree, and became a school Psychologist and supervisor of Special Education. Dad was very instrumental in helping handicapped children with the right to education and he provided them with work programs and a graduation experience.

Dad was deeply caring and motivated to giving his heart to so many people. He lived by faith, family, food, and football! Our hearts are filled with warm, happy Italian family togetherness at Christmases. Keep the family love alive for him. Dad would want us to make a difference by loving others.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 29th, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of the Memorial Service at Noon at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. Inurnment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery Assumption Mausoleum. Members of the Veteran Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 11:50 am to conduct full military honors
