Margaret M. “Marge” Santillo, 92, of Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 in the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Margaret was born on Oct. 29, 1923 in Girard, Ohio to the late Thomas and Concetta Vitacula Testa. She had graduated from the Girard High School with the class 1941. In her youth she had worked at the Five & Ten store in Girard. She later worked at Republic Steel, and then for General Electric for 10 years as an inspector. After moving to Ellwood City she worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill for 10 years.
She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish and the Christian Mothers of the Holy Redeemer parish. She was also a member of the Golden Agers. Marge was well known for baking wonderful pies. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and watching sports especially Notre Dame football.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele (Frank C.) Steri of Center Twp., her sons, Fred J. (Tina) Santillo, Jr. of Laguna Beach, Calif. and Mark Santillo of Ellwood City, and her grand-daughter, Marisa Santillo. She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Mancini of Girard, Ohio, and her brother, John Testa of Niles, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred J. Santillo, Sr. whom she married in 1954 and passed away in 2008, her sisters, Rose Tiberio, Helen Antunucci, and Angeline Testa, and her brothers, Frank and Alec Testa.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Holy Redeemer Church. Those attending the funeral mass are asked to meet at the funeral home on Monday by 10:20 a.m. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Holy redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 10:50 a.m. to form an honor guard.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Santillo’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
