Joseph T. Taranto, Jr., 71

Mr. Joseph T. Taranto, Jr., 71 of Ellwood City passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver following a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe was born in Ellwood City to the late Joseph T. and Maggie (Condell) Taranto, Sr. on February 3, 1950. He had graduated from Lawrence County Vo-Tech with the class of 1969 where he had studied welding. For over 20 years he worked as a supervisor for the former Leeds & Northrup in Ellwood City, and later retired from Penn State Special Metals LLC where he was a mill worker. He is a long time member of the Sons of Italy #608. Joe loved working on cars, especially restoring his 1965 Corvette and attending car cruises. He also enjoyed gardening and cutting wood in his backyard.

He is survived by his fiancée, Michele Izzo Bauder, sons, Joseph T. Taranto III (Jessie Robles) of Coraopolis, Michael Taranto (Sam Grosz) of Harmony, and Brooklyn Bauder Taranto of Ellwood City, and his sister, Marianna (Donald) Palimino of Ellwood City. He is also survived by his nephew, Anthony (Shayla) Taranto and his great-nephew, Dominic Taranto of Los Angeles, CA.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of the Blessing Service at 10:00 am at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
