Merle D. Redmond, 70

Merle Redmond, 70, of Wampum, passed away in his residence on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Born in Ellwood City on May 4, 1951, Merle was the son of the late Ralph and Sarah Hudspath Redmond.  He married the former Karin Cooper on July 18, 2008.  Merle could always be seen driving around Ellwood City and neighboring towns, collecting scrap metal.  He loved watching old westerns, wrestling and going to flea markets.

Merle is survived by his wife, Karin Redmond, two daughters, Loretta Redmond and Norma Redmond, a step-daughter, Jamie (Gerald) Anthony, his two sisters, Ann Kruger of Ellport and Susan Coblentz of Wampum, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a good friend of Merle and Karin, Tina Potter.

In addition to his parents, Merle was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Rodriguez, a brother, Ralph Redmond, a sister, Carol Herko and a nephew, Richard Kruger.

In accordance with Merle’s wishes, all services were private.  His family would like to thank Family Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.

    Such sad news. Merle was our neighbor in Knox Plan and our entire family loved him. Sending our sympathy to Merle’s family.There will never be another like him.

    I grew up on Steifel Ave. Melee would come to our house. Mom would give him pop bottles. He was a nice person. My deepest sympathy to his family
