Anne T Smith, 91

Mrs. Anne T Smith, 91, died on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at the Northview Estates after a short illness.

She was born on April 27, 1929, to John F. Boyle and Josephine Smeltz Boyle. A lifelong resident of Ellwood City, she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947, after which she worked in the office at the local U.S. Steel Corp. plant. She married Harold Ray Smith on Oct. 14, 1949, at St. Agatha Catholic Church. Together, they had four children. She was a charter member of the church’s Christian Mothers organization, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a frequent presence in the church kitchen helping to make perogies, stuffed peppers and nut rolls for church events. She belonged to AARP and found great enjoyment socializing and playing cards at the local program for seniors, Challenges: Options for Aging.

Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1993.

She is survived by her children: Ray Jr. (wife Karen) of West Des Moines, Iowa; Rick (Jodi) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mary Anne Boariu (husband Denny) of Ellwood City; and Jim (Betsy) of Cranbery Township. Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Coree, Matt and Aaron Smith, Kevin and Eric Boariu, and Christopher Smith, as well as five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind four nieces and a nephew, who brought her much joy. She felt fortunate to have her daughter’s husband, Denny, nearby as well as a doctor in the family, her niece Dori’s husband, Dan Monahan. Both provided comfort to her and the family along the way.

In addition to her husband, her brother, John F. Boyle Jr., his wife, Alice, and two of their children, John Boyle III and Patrick, preceded her in death.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will not be a public visitation. A memorial mass for Anne will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Smith’s name may be made to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund, Social Services.
