Gloria Ann Anderson, 94

Mrs. Gloria Ann Anderson of Franklin Twp. devout and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice Care in Wexford just days after her 94th birthday.

Mrs. Anderson was born on July 13, 1925 in Zelienople to the late Ralph “Sparkie” Ewing and Elsie (Molter) Ifft-Ewing. She had graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1944. During World War II, she worked at the U.S. Steel Mill in the chemistry lab. Gloria was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City where she had sang in the church choir, served on the church council and kitchen committee, was a circle leader with the Hope Circle, a member of the Welca Ladies Organization, and had taught Sunday School. She also was a volunteer for the Head Start Program. She along with her husband Robert where members of the Green Meadows Golf Course where she proudly had hit a hole in one. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and reading.

She is survived by her daughters, Wendy L. (Joseph) DeRose of Sea Isle City, NJ and Kris Anderson of Long Beach, CA, her grandchildren, Heather Moeck, Melissa “Missy” Liefer, Nicholas, Leslie, and Julie DeRose, and her great-grandchildren, Cade and Rocky Liefer, Isla and Jay Moeck, and Elise DeRose. She is also survived by her nieces, Cindy Gates and Helen Lesnick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert L. Anderson whom she married on May 21, 1949 and passed away on September 27, 2001, her grandson, Joseph DeRose III, her sisters, Ruth Hillman and Dolores Lesnick, her brothers, John E. Ewing, William Ifft during World War II, James Ifft, Dan Ifft, and Kenneth “Bud” Ifft. and a twin daughter in infancy.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. and on Monday from 9am until the time of the service at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Anderson’s name may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
